Commercial Account Manager

Job Summary

Responsible for providing the highest customer service to Commercial Lines Accounts for an independent insurance agency. Provide this service by developing a professional rapport with clients, company representatives, and business associates by maintaining knowledge of commercial lines coverage and company underwriting guidelines.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Process all aspects of renewal policies or new policies for existing clients; this may include obtaining updated underwriting information, completing, and submitting submissions to companies, ordering loss runs to provide loss history/summary, rating, securing quotations, calculating premium notes, preparing a proposal for client and/or Account Executives.
  • Order policies or policy changes, including updating exposures in the database system.
  • Issue certificates of insurance, which may include reviewing the client's contract insurance requirements to determine compliance, evidence of insurance, and Auto ID cards.
  • Process policies and endorsements received from the companies, including invoicing and attaching to the AMS360 database.
  • Process audits, including review for accuracy, invoicing, and collection procedures.
  • Coordinate collection efforts with account executives, including contact with clients and finance companies and account reconciliations.
  • Utilize and maintain suspense in the database.
  • Maintain written, telephone, and oral communication documentation from all sources by logging and/or attaching it to the database.
  • Provide backup to other Commercial Lines Managers as needed.
  • Verify coverage and report claims in the absence of the Claims Supervisor.

Job Skills and Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Five or more years of Commercial Lines Insurance experience with a current Texas General Agents License preferred.
  • Experience with AMS360 preferred.
  • Ability to work in a paperless environment.
  • Organizational skills, ability to prioritize, manage time, multi-task, and work flexibly.
  • MS Office Word, Excel, and data entry skills.
  • Knowledge of coverages, rating rules/regulations, and underwriting guidelines.
  • People skills and negotiating abilities.
  • Math aptitude and analytical abilities.
  • Awareness of E & O exposure and use of E & O prevention techniques.
